Why CFT?
Because Connecticut is losing its family farms, and we are the only land trust dedicated specifically to saving that farmland, for farms, forever.
When you become a member of CFT or invest in our work, you become a part of something lasting and vital. There is only so much good soil in this state and we will need every yard of it in the years to come.
We are an Accredited 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and we rely upon people like you to support our work financially. While we sometimes leverage our privately-raised funds with public money to purchase conservation easements, every cent required to keep the lights on and pay the rent comes from people like you.
You can trust us. Accreditation is your assurance that we are a sound, well managed organization. When you give us money specifically to save land, you know that we will leverage that investment at the rate of 34:1. Nationwide, non-profits spend an average of 30% of their revenue on operating expenses. Here at CFT, we’ve held that figure below 20%.
All of that is true, and good. But at the end of the day its our mission that matters. Join us, and be able to say, “Today, I helped save a farm!“
