Are you a land trust or municipality working with a landowner to conserve working lands through the use of an agricultural conservation easement?
CFT is the only statewide land trust dedicated to protecting Connecticut’s working family farms, wants to assist land trusts navigate the complexity of farmland preservation projects. CFT is currently accepting applications from landowners and organizations looking for advisement regarding the creation of thorough and effective easement agreements.
CFT will provide expert advice and opinion on up to five farmland easement projects during 2016. CFT staff will review proposed agricultural easements and building envelopes, recommend knowledgeable attorneys and surveyors, explain federal and state farmland grant programs, and answer the thousand and one questions that often crop up during a project.
As part of an initiative to educate land trusts, attorneys, planners and municipal officials about the complexities and benefits of agricultural conservation easements, CFT will also be presenting a series of workshops. Please note that if you are interested in working with us, you will be required to attend a workshop on agricultural conservation easements as part of the process.
