Why Accreditation?
Connecticut Farmland Trust (CFT) wants you, our supporters and stakeholders, to have confidence that your investments of time, talent, and resources are being used wisely.
What Is Accreditation?
The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs. Accredited land trusts have demonstrated their commitment to national quality standards for nonprofit management and land conservation. The rigorous accreditation program verifies that the land trust has systems in place to ensure the promise of land protection is a permanent one.
Connecticut Farmland Trust, first accredited in 2012, underwent re-accreditation in 2017, and is pleased to announce it is applying to renew its accreditation in 2022. Connecticut Farmland Trust is submitting an application for renewal of its accreditation on November 30, 2022.
How Does Public Commenting Work?
The Commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how Connecticut Land Trust complies with national quality standards. The standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For the full list of standards see http://www.landtrustaccreditation.org/help-and-resources/indicator-practices.
