The Cooley siblings decided together to protect the land that their parents purchased in 1940. The fields have been farmed through generations by many different Cornwall families, including Harts, Stevens, Simons and Scovilles.
The Cooleys sold the 85-acre farm and woodlands to the Cornwall Conservation Trust, and Connecticut Farmland Trust holds an easement on the 44.5 acres of agricultural lands, ensuring that they can never be developed.
Cornwall Conservation Trust plans to establish a loop trail open to the public around the farm’s hay fields.
