Bilger Farm, Meriden

Protected by: Connecticut Farmland Trust, CT Department of Agriculture
Year Protected: 2015
Acres: 76

The farm has been operated by the Bilger family for a number of generations. Owner Lucille Bilger, the last remaining Bilger, moved to convey the farm’s development rights to the state after tractor accident of her 82-year old brother David in 2010. It is one of the last farms in Meriden and the first in the city to be protected under the state’s Farmland Preservation Program. The 76-acre farm includes a dairy barn, a colonial-style house built circa 1880, and a garage.

Bilger Farm can be viewed from Chauncey Peak in the nearby New England Trail.
