CFT’s flexibility and ability to work quickly were put to the test when heirs to the 196-acre Montgomery Farm had to act swiftly to protect the farm in order to fulfill the terms of the owner’s will. CFT was able to complete the easement and closing within eight days. The farm adjoins two working farms protected by the state’s Farmland Preservation Program, creating a block of more than 350 acres of preserved farmland.
The farm’s extensive fields and forest are now leased by a local farmer for hay production and maple syrup collection.
The farm is privately owned and is not open to the public.
