Slate Farm, Lebanon

Protected by: Connecticut Farmland Trust
Year Protected: 2011
Acres: 34

Connecticut Farmland Trust partnered with the Town of Lebanon to conserve Slate Farm. The farm includes almost 90% prime and important agricultural soils and is within two miles of approximately 1,200 acres of active farmland.  The farm’s 19 acres of fields are currently being used for hay production.  Slate Farm has been in the same family for 10 generations and is adjacent to the Lebanon Town Green (a designated National Register Historic District), the only town green in Connecticut that is still actively farmed.  Slate Farm is the 3rd farm in Lebanon that CFT has protected.

The purchase of an easement on the farm was funded by the USDA/Natural Resources Conservation Service and CFT’s Acquisition Fund.

The farm is privately owned and not open to the public.
