The 182-acre Wisneske Farm borders a 600+ acre farm protected by the CT Department of Agriculture and is part of one of the largest concentrations of protected farmland in the state. Sixty three acres of the former dairy are leased by a local farmer for hay and corn production.
The purchase was a collaboration between the CT Department of Agriculture, USDA/Natural Resources Conservation Service and Connecticut Farmland Trust. This project is the first time in the history of the CT Farmland Preservation Program that the State of Connecticut, a land trust, and a federal agency have joined together to protect a property.
The farm is privately owned and not open to the public.
