Scooter Hill Farm, Lebanon

Protected by: Connecticut Farmland Trust, Town of Lebanon, USDA-NRCS
Year Protected: 2016
Acres: 34

The Drum family in Lebanon watched over the years as the land around them was sold and developed. Unwilling to let their property face the same fate, they decided to permanently protect 34 acres as farmland forever.

This was the first Agricultural Land Easement (ALE) project in the state of Connecticut. The ALE program is run by the United States Department of Agriculture – Natural Resources Conservation Service, which protects the agricultural use and conservation values of eligible land, and helps farmers keep their land in agriculture.
