Gifts of Stock
A gift of stock is a great way to help avoid or reduce capital gains taxes, receive an income tax deduction, and support the conservation of local family farms. If you itemize deductions, you may also be able to take a charitable deduction for the entire donation amount.
Your support will make a big difference and help ensure Connecticut’s family farms continue to provide good food, healthy air and water, and strengthen our rural communities.
How to donate a gift of stock
Contact Kimball Cartwright at CFT for our Schwab account and DTC number to share with your broker. Our federal employer identification number is 32-0007171. Notify us of the type and quantity of shares you plan to give to us. You can reach Michelle at 860-247-0202, ext. 224.
- We only know who you are if you tell us: securities transferred to our Charles Schwab account from your financial institution do not identify the donor. We therefore won’t be able to thank you for your gift unless we know who you are.
Notify your broker the type and quantity of shares to transfer to our account.
- Your income tax donation is based upon the average market value of the stock on the day it arrives in our account.
- Please remember that it may take several days for your broker to complete a transfer of stock at the year-end, so plan adequate time if that year-end contribution is important to you.
